The Black & Decker MM2000 Review

The MM2000 is an upgraded version of one of Black & Decker’s earlier corded electric mower models, the MM1800 which has since been discontinued.

This upgraded version has more power, a wider cutting path and there’s a marked improvement in the blade quality and construction, which translate into enhanced efficiency in the lawn.

With a powerful 13 amp motor and a 20 inch cutting deck, the MM2000 is perfect for small to medium sized lawns (1/3 of an acre). To top it off, it retains most of the best features of its predecessor.

A Closer Look: The Design

The Black and Decker MM2000 looks very similar to the company’s popular range of electric mowers with the rust proof ABS Polymer cutting deck and the signature, orange and black twin-color coating. The deck is an absolute brute and it can take a real beating without signs of wear and tear.

It also features a spring loaded rear discharge door with a dedicated safety cover. A mulch plug (which is included in the package) can be inserted into the mower if you prefer mulching.

Additionally, there’s an optional discharge chute to discharge the clippings if need be.

A 13 gallon rear grass collection nylon bag is provided to collect the clippings and the right side of the mower features the popular ‘Edge Max‘ blades, which give you great precision when you are trimming near fences or edges.User friendly design

Out of the box, the mower requires minimal assembly. Attach the handles and you are ready to roll.

For the uninitiated, the manual has detailed schematics which make the task a breeze.

The design is compact and ergonomic and the no-slip handles (height adjustable), provide firm control in uneven terrain.

Height adjustment is as easy as moving the lever that is intuitively positioned near the front of the mower.

The carrying handles on the front allow you to easily move the mower to the storage area. When not in use,the handles fold down allowing upright storage saving on valuable garage space.

Using the MM2000

Users have told us how they absolutely detest using corded mowers for the fear of running over the cord. But the fact is that you can use up to 100 or even 125 feet outdoor extension cords and reach the end of the yard with no problems whatsoever, provided you use the right gauge of the cord.

We used the Black & Decker MM2000 with a 100 foot outdoor extension cord 12/3 gauge and it worked perfectly even on a lawn with slight contours.using the mm2000

At 46 pounds, the mower is light enough for easy maneuvers without straining yourself.

With a gentle push of a button, the mower powers up for silent operation. The 13 amp motor delivers enough power to effortlessly cut through grass (4 inches wet and dry), weeds and dandelions. The 19 inch cutting path translates into fewer passes to mow your entire lawn.Using the MM2000

A single-touch height adjustment lever makes it easy to set your desired cutting height. You can choose from 7-settings and set your desired height of cut between 1 1/2?- 4? If the grass is too tall, you may have to make two passes to prevent the mower from overloading.

This is a 3-in-1 versatile mower which can switch seamlessly between mulching, bagging, and side discharge even during operation.

The rear bag lifts up allowing you to conveniently empty it once it fills up.

It is a part of Black and Decker’s Max range of mowers which features Edge Max technology that allows you to mow up to the edges and fences or flowerbeds.
